Mormonism
The Book of Mormon is genuine — but not the whole record.
A True Prophet, Limited Revelation
The Prophet Joseph Smith genuinely heard voices and saw visions. The Book of Mormon is a real book, written by real prophets to a real people. But it is not the whole Word. It is one chapter in the story of revelation, not the complete record.
The Filters of the LDS Church
Since Joseph Smith's death, the LDS Church has added its own filters. The priesthood hierarchy, the temple rituals, the emphasis on genealogy — these are valuable, but they are not divine. They are the work of human leaders trying to preserve and organize the revelation.
Polygamy
The doctrine of plural marriage was genuine in its time — but it was misunderstood and abused. The Prophet intended it as a spiritual practice, not a carnal one. But it became an excuse for the rich and powerful to take multiple wives, while the poor were left with none.
